Single-segment of Metroid Prime, European version, done on July 9 2005. Available in normal and high quality.
After I finished my 1:25 I thought of taking a little break. The time I got was pretty good for for me, but that soon turned out to be not really true. I began playing again after a 'small' break and got 1:25 almost every run, apart from the runs in which I died in Phazon Mines 2nd time or by randomly doing something really stupid. I didn't realy wanted to beat my run by just one minute and I had to take of at least two. I knew I was capable of a run around 1:22, 1:23 and with doing at least one run a day it shouldn't take that long to get it and that happened to be the case.
The run has some new strategies. I changed the strategy in the Frigate Crash Side to simply climb the frigate instead of the very random and difficult dash of the Flying Pirate, if you remembered I lost quite a lot of time there in my 1:25 run. I decided to take some more risk in a couple of rooms especially in the mines, I practiced those a lot and became consistant with them. I also decided to pick up the Ice Spreader for an optimal Prime first form fight. Only when I had three or more powerbombs after Omega I would pick it up. I decided beforehand not to search for a third power bomb if I only had two after omega, wich meant 'no Ice Spreader', I would only look in the boxes that were practicly in front of me and I was lucky. Searching for powerbombs is just too frustrating. Both Ice Troopers gave me a Power Bomb during the Omega Pirate battle, and I got one out of a box. For the use of the Ice Spreader I think it was quite succesfull. Four shots in his face with one miss, but that miss didn't cost me that much time since I directly shot a new Ice Spreader at him and managed to get a 10 missile upgrade from one of his bullets. Got to love PAL for those 10 missile packs. I might have spoiled a 1:22 during the second form fight becouse it went in six pools instead of five losing a good 30 seconds.
Overall I'm satisfied with this run, no huge mistakes and I managed to get speedtricks nearly always on first try. I think a time of 1:21 or even 1:20 is possible, for the one who is crazy enough to do the Thardus Jump near the end of the run and having better nerves then me.
I don't know if I'm going to take a break from the game but I am for sure not going to do a Single Segment any % anymore. I want to say good luck to the one who is trying to beat it and I would love to see a 1:22 or even lower from someone else. Thanks to the guys from metroid2002 for their support and another thanks to Radix for compressing the vid and getting it on SDA of course. Guess that's it, have fun watching!
